Running a game for seven players has made me a complete convert to initiative cards. However, I found that the Game Mechanics variety stored too little data to make them useful to me, so I thought I'd take a shot at designing my own. Much experimenation, playtesting and tweaking later, I've got an A5 card design that does what I need. It has an optional reverse side that stores spell data for casters, and I can use same the cards for PCs, NPCs and monsters.
The plan was to attach the file to this post on the off-chance that others might find them handy. Alas, I have been thwarted. I created the file in MS Publisher (.pub) and was going to ask if someone wouldn't mind making it a .pdf, so as many people as possible could use it. However, the zipped form is too large to post as an attachment (.rar isn't but the bbs won't let me attach a .rar format file).
If anyone's interested, I can email them .rar, .zip, .pub, .rtf or .doc format versions to play with. The cards' layout is basically two A5 cards to a sheet of British A4 (29.7 x 21 cm), landscape format with quite narrow print margins; they print fine on my laser printer in .pub format. I haven't tried printing from converted formats.
