So my party has three aasimar (out of seven PCs) in it. Their angelic guides have not featured yet in the game, but the group is due to arrive at Candlekeep in the next session and that seems like a good time to bring the guides into the story. I'd like to hear what any other players have done with angelic guides in your games, or if you have any suggestions on how to use angelic guides for these specific characters. Details are below. I'm especially a bit stumped about PC #3. PC #1 (NG protector aasimar) grew up in Baldur's Gate. He became a cleric of Lathander and joined the Order of the Gauntlet. The group's Dark Secret is that they killed a physician who was doing more harm than good, and PC #1 struck the actual killing blow. He also has recently acquired a magical mace that does extra radiant damage and also enhances pangs of conscience when the user contemplates or attempts a malevolent act. PC #2 (CG protector aasimar) is also from Baldur's Gate, a childhood friend of PC #1. He is an artificer and member of the Smiths' guild. Can't recall what his role in the dark secret was, but I can look it up if it seems relevant. He recently died while trying to open Thavius Kreeg's puzzle box and made a bargain with a devil to be brought back in exchange for doing an unspecified favor for the devil at a future date. (He specified that he would not agree to harm any of his companions as part of the bargain and the devil wrote their names into the contract, meaning that he could be asked to harm someone they meet later.) PC #3 (NG fallen aasimar) trained in Elturel with the Order of the Companion but chafed at the restrictions and left. She moved to Baldur's Gate and joined the Flaming Fist. Her role in the Dark Secret was that she knew about the plot to kill the doctor and looked the other way. I think the player would like to have some story revelations about her past, but I haven't figured out what those might be. Here's what the player has given me: "I was thinking 'something' happened when she was young and that’s why she’s fallen and was given up. I think whatever happened did so before she was in Elturel (maybe 5-8 years old), and it’s what gives her a short temper and being unable to commit to a 'good' regimented organization. I figure she was in elturel from say 8 to 18. Maybe a cult/demon/evil spirit thing messed with her." I feel like I need to figure out what her issue is before I can figure out what her angelic guide might say to her...
