The threads about magic items inspired me. :) Lately, I find that I'm bored with magic items. When it comes to division of treasure, I let the other players take what they want unless something just seems extra special to me, something just "tailor-made" for my character. One of our DMs has taken to creating a sort of legendary item, sort of like the leveled items from Dragon or the scion classes from the Game Mechanics, for each character. I actually like this a lot and though no one has used them in our group yet, I like the idea of the scion prestige classes that the Game Mechanics came up with, too (it's also a very cool use of the prestige class concept, I think). I think I'd rather have cool abilities granted by a class, feat, etc., than magic items for my character. So, what do you guys think? Would you rather have cool character abilities or cool character stuff?
