The worst part is when the side against ASIs masks it in some sort of pseudo-racism, as if any elven dexterity bonus or dwarven constitution bonus or half-orc strength bonus or human everything bonus reflects real world races. The language in the PHB needs to be fixed. The ASIs have nothing to do with any of it. So to bring it up as a reason is... I don't know what... but it's surreptitious in its way to promote a mechanic in a game you like. Which, by the way, is still about a mere +1.</blockquote>
