Abjurant Champion

Well as most of you know the feeling of a player trying to do something different; I too have that player. This player saw the Abjurant Champion and saw that it could be adapted to a divine based characters. So foolishly I said sure let me see what we can do. The powers seem to fit ok, that is until you look closely. A few of their powers do not mix well with the divine casting. Every divine spell I find is a deflection bonus to armor or shield. Now do I change the wording and let it go, or do I just say sorry that is the way it is. Any other advice would also work too.

Abjurant Champion is an arcane-based PrC for a reason - it's desgined for the armorless, which Clerics aren't.

To be fair, though, there's really only a single spell that the Abjurant Champion's boosted armor works with - Shield. That's pretty much it. It doesn't apply to Mage Armor, even though it's an example in the original printing (errata removed it).

Simple suggestion: Permit him to research Shield as a 2nd-level divine spell (2 week, 2,000 gold pieces, plus a spellcraft check), and leave everything else pretty much as-is.

There are two spells in the BoED that it works with. Luminous Armor and Greater Luminous Armor. Both very good spells if you don't mind taking some strength damage when you cast them and glowing like a christmas tree.
