Aboleth Take Over the World

What if the Aboleth were taking over the world?

They've driven the Drow to the surface through brute force and cunning, laying waste to their cities. Now the Drow slaves are Aboleth slaves.

Now they are subtly driving wedges between kingdoms that were once friends, taking control of key figures and distributing a drug to power-hungry Wizards that gives them psionic powers but leaves them vulnerable to Aboleth mind control.

This is my D&D campaign, any ideas are appreciated.

The aboleth dislike surface travel, preferring to have their servants and slaves do their work there, but if a matter requires their personal attention, they can travel overland in carriages. These carriages are built like standard wagons, with a permanent wall of force in place which is in the shape of a 15' tall square, which is full of water. This is usually hidden by a curtain that surrounds the aboleth's temporary environment. The wagon is driven by tiefling slaves under the aboleth's control, and the aboleth usually has other powerful creatures (such as mind flayers or beholders) in the wagon or nearby in case of trouble.

If the wall of force is dispelled or the water is drained from the wagon, a conditional spell will be triggered (book of Eldritch Might) causing teleport without error to return the aboleth to its home waters.

Few people have seen these carriages, but all but the most foolhardy know to give them a wide berth when they are spotted in the distance.

Yeah, yeah, someone from RPG.net described them as looking like the Navigator's tanks in Lynch's Dune movie.

Nice, thanks.

Perhaps an adventure where they try to melt the poles is in order.

To melt the poles they could:

summon a star

open a gate to the elemental plane of fire

summon a HUGE efreet or salamander

I think opening a dimensional rift on the pole might do it. (Kind of bleed the elemental plane onto the polar caps.) :)

Why go to all the trouble of melting the poles when all you need to do is open up a one-way gate into the world from the elemental plane of water? Crank that puppy open for a little while and the world becomes an ocean.

But then that would pretty much destroy the land based cultures that the aboleth are trying to conquer. Maybe they're after the wealth and trappings of power found on land. Maybe they're trying to destroy an ancient enemy by creating an army from the conquered people on land. Maybe the plan to do magical experiments on all manner of land based creatures to see if they can be made both completely subservient and powerful with psionics.

One of the major leaders in any organized opposition to them should be an aboleth infiltrator.

Maybe the aboleth leaders live in an area much like the underdark, except that it is completely flooded.

Who are the footsoldiers of the aboleth? Are they weaker aboleth? Are they sahuagin or other sea creatures? What about on land?

Re

I can post again..woot.

Sounds like a cool idea for an adventure. Kind of like Night Below with a different twist.
