Hi folk I just woke up with a nice idea to introduce the rakshasa in a original view of my own for my campaign setting When humains try to conceive a baby and they finaly be infromed that they did it sometimes ,at the birth, things doesn't go as they planed and a curse was cast by an ancient evil god so the spontaniously become parent of an anthropomorphic baby (baby with animal features) most of the times those babies have humain bodies (littaraly) and animals heads. Those things are called different in humain cuture so as how they are seen. In Egypt-like nations they difinitly take it as a gift of their gods and people think that those babies are meant to become being who will do great things (not necessery good things though) In druidic culture they take it as messenger of the nature gods and the nature of the aligment of those messengers are explain as how this god feel about the world at this very moment in most of indigenous tribe they worship them as powerful god Barbarian are feared of them they think they are wrath of the nature that will take revenge on the humanity (specialy the totemic barbarian) so the killed them most of the time japan-like society respect them as they are an envoy of their gods who spread their message in their culture there is Pandafolk who spread the word of justice over the land as samurai In most medieval culture they see them as apocalyptic sign. some hide and raise them as their son/daughter some others abandon them and dont want anything from them. And in other case they choose to kill them for the world sake In some other day these creatures were very numerous so numerous that someday they betrayed their nation and lead a rebellion to get the power of the lands they were known as the Rakshasa they raise thousand (or more) temples in honor of the evil god that curse them over the world (pyramids , Mayan temples, obelisk ect...) Some are good and want answer on what they are and why they was born like this they never find their answer but they still seek it the way that they seek it lead them to leave the material plane and become the Agathion (Seeker of the gods) who work for all dieties equally in guarding powerful treasure or defending celestia and the seven mound in way to found someday all the answer they want The truth is that Agares an evil goddess wanted to mislead the world and turn it in tyranny and pain so she raised monster and abberation but the good god had enough of this and destroy here but her essence still flow on the word and that what making this anomaly over babies. In their language Rakshasa mean Warrior their leader are calleds Rajah their queen is called Amirasha and the one who lead the Rakshasa is called the Ramajah and the one in service of this one are the Mara or the Marajah Rakshasa now split up into groops that look the same , catfolk stick with catfolk the most popular are the following Catfolk: Lead by the Queen Basteth the birdfolk (They were twisted in mind by an ancien demoness known as Ravnira the Vrock Queen who lock up their powerful Sharimad (Wizard) Thoth) The Jakalfolk (Evil cast of jakal head rakshasa lead by the god Anubis) The serpentfolk (They were charmed by the beauty of Medusas and now they protect the gorgon families with their life ) The frogfolk (They are friend with lizardmen and they see Froggmoth as diety they raise temple as Aztec do) Feel free to leave comment on what you think of my idea I realy wanna hear from I know that oviously my english is terrible and i appologize for that
