That reminds me of a bizarre story in Moscow a few years back. Most Russian high-rise apartment buildings have a trash chute in the stairwell, and they often get clogged. A maintenance person was once trying to fix one and reached down to far, and fell in. The chutes are very narrow, but I guess a thin person could fit. He was stuck between floors for several hours, and you can just imagine all tthe trash he was in. I think they had to cut the chute open to get him out.

So apparently it really is magic that allows Santa to get down our chimneys.

Mosley says firefighters considered cutting holes in the chimney or dismantling it, but decided on a less destructive approach. They lowered a rope from an aerial ladder and pulled Henry up very slowly.

I swear I went nowhere near...


Though I could fit the Santa Claus role better than the "little elf sliding down the chimney" role...
