Very neat, but doesn't that slow combat down a lot?

My other thought at looking at this is - Man, this would be a cool system to use for Traveller combats!

cool you have made a sale at Gen Con

Does it matter where you hit. Do you have a HP system for areas of the body or just armor/protection of different areas?

Yes it very much matters where you hit.

I'll try to post a follow up video to show how hits are handled.

Bascially each bullet/pellet has a damage rating (shotgun pellets are typically 1d4 with a result of '4' indicating you roll that die again for penetration).

After taking HP damage for the bullet you consult a table for the body part hit to determine what the resulting wound is.

So beyond the HP damage you could suffer a broken bone, loss of a limb, organ damage, etc. -- depending on where the bullet actually hit.

There's really no AC in A&8 but there's cover. So if the guy in he video had been standing behind a water barrel, or shooting out a window you would apply modifiers for cover/hardness.

I guess we can demo that in the next video as well.

You guys may have hit upon a new type of product- rules on video! Imagine how cool it would be if you were to do a video explaining all the complex parts of a game and include (or sell separately) a dvd with the main rule book.

I just think that is funny (I know what you mean) But the first time I read it I heard "buy our product, no reading involved."

I played Aces & Eights at the last ENWorld Chicago Gameday. It was a lot of fun. But I know my gaming group wouldn't go for it, unfortunately.

That's been our goal for quite some time. We're only just NOW getting around to bringing it into place.

We plan on doing a LOT of instructional videos (free) and incorporating them into our online support pages.

You can see the beginning of that process here: http://www.kenzerco.com/aces_n_eights/gameplay/shotclock.html (be sure to scroll down).

Look for more in a few days.
