I know a lot of D&D fans didn't like it as it was so obviously non-historical. I had no problem with that aspect of the movie - because it clearly didn't pretend to be historically based. It was over the top and made no pretense otherwise and never took itself seriously.And so I loved it.I thought he was brilliant in Lords of Dogtown - a very underrated film in my opinion. He proved there he could act. Great movie.He was, of course, nominated for an Academy Award for Brokeback Mountain. He was not a mere genre actor of questionable talent - this guy was the real deal and a bona fide star. This is very sad news indeed. I have no idea what impact it will have upon the new Batman movie - if all the scenes and pickups were done for it or not. I suppose these days they can CGI it if need be - but Ledger as the Joker was a big part of that movie.</blockquote>
