In addition to the regular, biweekly 1E game I've been a part of, I decided to start another game (also 1E) to take place once a month for people on our osdnd boards who have not been able to find a group. I thought I'd post the info here, too, in case anyone might be interested. Here is the general info:
- Friday evenings are best for me as long as it is not a Friday evening that my regular 1E group is playing (this new game will not replace that group/game). Saturdays are possible, too.
- I'd like to run the game at my place in South Arlington (Shirlington) mainly because I have all my DMing supplies there, but if a more suitable, accessible location can be found, I'd be willing to travel to it as long as it is in Fairfax County. The Chantilly Game Parlor is one possibility, though the background noise there can sometimes make it less than ideal.
- The 1st Edition AD&D Players Handbook is the only rulebook allowed for players in terms of character creation, spells, etc. If you would like to use a unique class or other feature presented elsewhere (for example, in an old issue of "Dragon" Magazine), though, I'd consider it.
- Some house rules are involved, though not many. THAC0 and thieves' discretionary points from 2E are used.
- Characters will start at 1st level.
- The setting will be Greyhawk, most likely in a remote location in the general vicinity of Greyhawk City.
- The campaign will be episodic, with each adventure being mostly unrelated to the ones before and after it (think episodes of Star Trek). Some connectedness between adventures is possible, but there won't be a long, involved story arc/plot that ties all the adventures together.
- I'd prefer to kick this off with a minimum of three players. The maximum is six players.
