Adding class levels to a monster with claw/bite attacks.

OK, a 7 HD monstrous humanoid (BAB= Lvl 7 Fighter) as written has a Bite attack and two claw attacks. I want to add 8 cleric levels (+6/+1 BAB) to this creature.

How would I figure the resulting Attacks for the Bite/Claws, and a weopon if the creature wields one?

Well, easiest thing first, its weapon attacks, should it use a weapon, are at +13/+8/+3, just as per normal multiclassing.

I think, its claw and bite attacks then both work just like normal off hand weapon attack (penalties to all attacks depending on what feats you have, half strength bonus), but I am not sure.

Obviously, he can't make a claw attack with the claw(s) that are holding the weapon.

If a creature wields both natural and manufactured weapons the creature gain all of the attacks it would have if using only manufactured weapons and additional gains one attack with each of it useable natural weapons at a -5. For example a 7 HD monstrous humanoid with 8 cleric levels would have a BAB of +13 thus would have attacks of +13/+8/+3 if only using manufacutred weapons and if only using natural weapons it would have attacks +13(bite)/+8(claw)/+8(claw) (if bite is the primary natural weapon if claws are primary then the attacks would be +13(claw)/+13(claw)/+8(bite) ). If using both natural and manufacutred weapon the cleric would have attacks of +13/+8/+3 and +8(bite)/+8(claw)/+8(claw) if using a weapon that did not require the use of his hands to wield (such as unarmed strike), +13/+8/+3 and +8(bite)/+8(claw) with a one-handed weapon and no shield, +13/+8/+3 and +8(bite) with a two-handed weapon or a one-handed weapon and a shield.

Here are the rules from the SRD
"Manufactured Weapons: Some monsters employ manufactured weapons when they attack. Creatures that use swords, bows, spears, and the like follow the same rules as characters, including those for additional attacks from a high base attack bonus and two-weapon fighting penalties. This category also includes “found items,” such as rocks and logs, that a creature wields in combat- in essence, any weapon that is not intrinsic to the creature.
Some creatures combine attacks with natural and manufactured weapons when they make a full attack. When they do so, the manufactured weapon attack is considered the primary attack unless the creature’s description indicates otherwise and any natural weapons the creature also uses are considered secondary natural attacks. These secondary attacks do not interfere with the primary attack as attacking with an off-hand weapon does, but they take the usual -5 penalty (or -2 with the Multiattack feat) for such attacks, even if the natural weapon used is normally the creature’s primary natural weapon."

Camarath said it all. You get your normal attacks with the main weapon as usual (no penalties or anything), and then you get all natural attacks (except for the ones that were used to wield the weapon), each as a secondary attack (-5 to hit from your normal attack and half strength bonus).

And, just to be clear, you never get iterative attacks from a high BAB with natural weapons.
Thanks, that clears things up a bit.

That's not a very consistant rule though. Surely it doesn't apply to Monks, right?

Right, it doesn'y apply to monks. If you like, you can think of the monk's attacks coming from training, while natural weapon attacks are only made possible by phisiology.

Just to muddy the waters:

Savage Species pg 106, under Monk

"Those (monsters) with natural attacks can deal their natural weapon damage with the monk's higher unarmed attack rate, or they can deal the monk's unarmed combat damage, whichever is higher."

Ah, inconsistencies... :)

Is this a 3.5 or a 3.0 disscussion because hitherto I have between operating on the assumption that it is a disscussion on the 3.5 rules rather than 3.0 rules? And since the rules governing combining natural and manufactured weapon attack changed between 3.0 and 3.5 that distincition is important.
