It took me the better part of the day surfing the internet to find out that the things I wanted to do were disabled because I had not clicked on the Expert tab. I didn't consider myself an Expert, so I didn't want a bizillion icons and such showing up. So, I was in Quick and locked out of the simplest functions like copy and paste of text.
