I decided to run Rise of the Runelords in the Unapproachable East, using the sugestions BlackMoria gave me. Now I'm working on the background of the adventure and the setting, rewriting their history and geography. Before reading, keep in mind that I don't care about Forgotten Realms canon. I like it, but I preffer to tinker with it to adjust it to my needs. I'll try to mantain the 3.5 setting, but I'm not afraid to change things in a way they seem cooler and better for the Adventure Path. This are my ideas so far:
Merge Thassilion with Narfell: Narfell was an empire ruled be the powerfull runelords. Their demon-summoners were not so important, instead they are remembered for their runic magic and the 7 schools of magic. Tatoo magic and runic magic used in the east (especialy in Thay and Thesk) are a legacy from Narfell.

History: merge Raumathar with the empire Thassilion fought against (I can't find the name of that civilization) and include something similar to Earthfall. In the end of war, Raumathar used epic magic to cast a great star to fall over Narfell. They miscalculated the spell effect and it could have destroyed Faerun but some divinity/power (maybe the wytchlaran) saved the day, shattering the falling star. Countless star-shards fell over Narfell, Raumathar and the near regions. The greatest fragments fell in the Inner Sea, causing a great tsunami wich destroyed lot of coastal cities. This catastrophe destroyed both empires and the land experienced a Dark Age wich lasted centuries. Demons summoned by the Nar claimed the land and barbarian tribes fought for survival in that hostile environment. Aglarond: the elves of Yuireshanyaar forsaw the Starfall and fled to Sildeyuir. Only a handfull of brave elves stayed in Toril. Those elves protected the Yuirwood and intermarried with humans, giving birth to the nation of half-elves. The Great Dale: they were never part of the Narfell Empire. The forests of this region were protected by The Oakfather. When the war and the Starfall destroyed the cities and armies, the Great Dale became a secure place in wich demons and savage warriors dare not enter. Nameless spirits were dispatched by Silvanus to help heal the nearby lands. This nameless spirits now inhabit all the eastern lands, specialy Rashemen. Rashemen: the wytchlaran, heirs of Raumathar, united the barbarians and Rashemen was born to fight against a demon-lord. The nameless spirits helped them heal the land during the Dark Age. Thesk: this lands were unclaimed until the end of the Dark Age, when Damarans, Shou and Tuigans started to explore the lands of the east. They found ruins of the Nar civilization and built new cities over the ruins. This independant cities became Thesk and the Golden Way was created. Thay: this lands were merely affected by the Starfall. Thayans didn't try to conquer the devastated lands of the east, because of the demons, barbarians, witches and extrange magical phenomena generated by the Starfall. It was when the land was healed when they saw it with greedy eyes.

Races: Damarans will merge with Chelaxians. they will have a demonic-worshiping past and come from the survivors of Narfell. Rashemis merge with the Shoanti peoples: they are really similar. Varisians merge with Shou and Tuingans: not similar, but I don't care, I like the oriental feeling of the east better.

Geography: this is one of my greatest concerns. I'm worried about the placement of the Hookmountain, the Fortress of the Stone Giants and the Runeforge. I didn't read the adventure in detail, but it seems to me that I will have to change the geography of Thesk and the Great Dale to include this places
Do you have any sugestions, ideas I could borrow or advice? Again, thanks for reading and excuse my English.
