[QUOTE="MadAzolin, post: 6170486, member: 6747396"] Creature sweeps party with its shining eyes, scanning one by one and paying particular attention to Lilli and Martelai. Finally it turns toward warlock, speaking several words in language of eladrin [sblock="eladrin"] "Martelai Luinil, son of Lianneren Aedre, Fyrnnirigil Ghostraven, Eye of the Hunt and second to the Leader of the Hunt greets you in peace." [/sblock] Creature strikes its taloned fist against its chest and continues: [sblock="eladrin"] Like many before you, you have come to this place sacred to the Mistress of the Hunt and like many times before, Mistress has called for The Hunt. We are the hunters, you are the prey, such is The Way and such is The Will of the Mistress! Be honored you who lead those who came from worlds not our, for it is great honor to take part in The Hunt. Listen carefully prey, for The Rules shall be said but once. [/sblock] Waiting for a bit to see reaction, creature points toward oversized silvery moon that is slowly descending toward the horizon and continues: [sblock="eladrin"] When the silver moon sets and The Hunter's moon rises, when the horn sounds and call is set forth shall the Hunt begin and when the hunter’s moon comes down shall the Hunt be halted until The Hunter's moon rises again, such is the rule of the Hunt! While The Hunt lasts, the prey will not leave the hunting grounds - way of your coming has been sealed and shall not be opened until the hunt ends, such is the will of the Mistress! [/sblock] Continuing, creature points toward tall mountain peak barely visible in the distance: [sblock="eladrin"] All the Hunter can observer from the summit of Hunter's Talon are the Hunting grounds, except for the Palace of Stars. The Hunt lasts until prey is hunted down, until they leave hunting grounds or until The Mistress calls off the hunt. [/sblock] Finally, creature takes one more assessing look of party and finishes: [sblock="eladrin"] Ask now if you must and prepare yourselves, Silver moon is setting and The Hunter's moon will gaze upon us soon. The horn will sound and The Hunt will be on. [/sblock] [MENTION=24380]Neurotic[/MENTION]: [sblock="knowledge skills"] You are not really sure what they are - they might be some weird elves or eladrin changed by nature of Fey or they might be something else. What you do know however is that hunting is quite popular sport in the Fey-lands and this lot seems quite serious about it. 'Mistress of the Hunt' creature is referring to might be anything of local powerful monsters, archfey or even some of gods known to men (although probably called different here). [/sblock] [MENTION=51271]Voda Vosa[/MENTION]: [sblock="arcana"] Thinking about undead, demons and ghosts didn't get you far, but you did manage to remember some of pages from tomes that didn't interest you that much back at home. Monsters are definitely natives of feywild, tomes you remember refer to them in several different names - Hunters, Firbolg, Fyrhaar... according to things you can remember, they are described as monstrous, dangerous things that have bad habit of hunting humans for sport and are typically mentioned in tales for scaring children. While commonly considered superstition, these tales mention 'giant hunters that come from 'strange realms' and carry away children who break their vows and promises (to parents). They are told to 'carry skins and aspects of man-eating beasts and come when moon is high in the sky to hunt and take away'. Thinking about it again, you are fairly sure those descriptions should be taken with grain of salt... [/sblock] [MENTION=75065]jbear[/MENTION]: [sblock="knowledge"] You cannot remember much about 'giant hunters'. However you are fairly sure they are not making idle threats. It is almost strange - you don't feel any hostility from these creatures and even feel reasonably safe here with them, but have strong feeling that will change... [/sblock] [MENTION=100292]Neil1889[/MENTION]: [sblock="observation"] With all this talk about hunts and all, it sounds kinda bad. However you cannot shake off feeling you are not really target of any of that talk - if you are alone, they would probably leave you in peace (or not register you at all). However same cannot be told about rest of group - they seem to be eyeing Martelai and Kane quite hungrily... [/sblock] [/QUOTE]
