Mona looked like she would rather rest, but she did not argue with the party. She shared their loathing for the vermin-ridden island as well. And so they trod into the verdant jungle, into the sounds of night. **************** Three hours after the fall of dusk, fatigue began to creep into their limbs. The night was cold, as cold as the swamp they left behind, but it remained humid. The darkness below the canopy was deep, akin to the darkness in the ruins. The jungle mud and foilage were untouched by starlight and moonlight. Mona held her bobbing hooded lantern as steady as she could while they trudged on. In mere days, the trail they blazed was almost indistinguishable from the rest of the jungle. So, the front-liners (Razh and Scun) battled their way through the foilage. The sound of sickle and axe blows faded into the noises of the night. The rest of the party stayed with the female halfling and well within the light. Only the halfling warrior-rogue, Ogrin, escaped the fatigue that evervated the party. Perspiration left dark marks upon their clothes and trailed down brow, nose and chins. Muscles burned from the weariness of their travels. Fatigue: -2 to strength and dexterity, can't run or charge Nezrak [sblock] Nezrak was the farthest sighted in the party and undistracted compared to the dwarf and the half-orc. Thus, it was natural he that spied the oncoming figure of the Huge arachnid, leaping through the trees behind them. T'was pure luck that he spotted the monstrous spider with a well-time backward glance (natural 20). Whether its approach was hostile or not was not immediately apparant to the wizard.
