[QUOTE="shilsen, post: 850251, member: 198"] Wow! I know we just came off Easter, but I wasn't expecting this thread to be resurrected after 11 months! But since it's back up, here's a report on the progress. We're still on the same campaign (we take turns DM-ing, so we had a couple of breaks) and my PC's up to 14th lvl. All the other PCs are 13th (a couple of them died, hence the drop). And we don't have the problem I started this thread about any more. That's partly because my DM's a lot more used to 3e power levels now. And partly because when the mage is disintegrating huge dragons in an instant, the clerics are throwing out flame strikes and strutting around with huge ACs and attack bonuses, and the rogue is getting off three sneak attacks in a round and doing the normal damage + 8d6 each (sneak attack with a holy weapon), suddenly the archer doesn't look all that scary. It was just a matter of practice and perspective, as I'd opined when I started this thread. Plus I think sucking out the archer's soul and having it stuck in a coin at the bottom of a deep lake made him feel good :D So it's a good deal all around. Thanks for all the opinions and ideas.
