AEG’s Toolbox
I find myself liking this product as it has united a lot of information I have put together over the years and placed it into a single handy book. To misquote Kramer from Sienfeld, it is a book about tables.
I came across this product and started to thump-threw it just to see what is was about. What did I find? Tables, tables and more tables, Toolbox compiles tables for everything a DM may need one for and wraps it into 180+ pages.
Chapters are The Wilderness, Dungeons, Cities, and People. Information varies from chapter to chapter but covers such things as Terrain, Ground types, Natural Disasters, Animal Encounters, Book Titles, Room shape and sizes, City Governments, Pick pocket Yields, Names, Character Concepts, NPC Hirelings and so much more.
As for usefulness, I have found it very helpful when a player asked ‘What is on the menu?’ at the local tavern and I checked the appendix for food, jumped to page 132 and replied ‘Chicken eggs (picked), corn pone (bread), pudding, raisins, spinach – 2sp’. Sure I could have made up something but it adds a bit of flavor and change to my game.
While this is not really a review and does not do the product justice I like what I have found in it and think it is worth mentioning.
