Agate Companion

Have you ever wished your animal companion was able to increase HD as you gain levels? Have you ever wished it didn't have to die? If as a GM I offered you this for the very "small" price of confering control of your pet to me, with perhaps the possibility of using it to cause you some... "minor" mischief, would you accept?

The Agate Companion is a Figurine of Wondrous Power with a refreshing twist, and GMs can integrate into any d20 OGL campaign setting. Inside you'll find a detailed description on the magical item as well as usable lore, an original creature template that can be applied to any animal companion, and two example NPCs that can be used to introduce this new item into an existing campaign.

What your greedy players should also know, is that the Agate Companion is also a tip of the hat to Ravenloft's "Dread Companions" in the spirit of Studio Arthaus' rendition of the Land of Mists. While some GMs might argue that the Agate Companion is perhaps "too good for its price", players who think they can use it as a mere "cheap boost" to their animals will soon find themselves in a destructive relationship the likes of 80's novel Christine. Giving the GM full control of your animal companion under the premise of making your life difficult comes with a price. Your closest friend might soon become your undoing.

Sure, the pdf only contains one magic item, but it's one fine magic item, and price is less than two dollars, less than what you pay for a mocaccino.
