Hey Folks,
I've thrown this idea up before. I've tried to run with it in the past, but the players I've had just didn't jive with the idea of supers comic books and RPGs...
However, I've found/formed a NEW group that seems to be "getting it". YAY!
We're planning to begin this new campaign 2 weeks from now. That'll give them time to create characters (most are new to M&M) and give me time to prep with ideas.
So if you're one of my players (Karl) you may wanna stay out of this thread!
I've had a thread or two on this prior, but it's a fun idea and I thought I'd look for new FRESH ideas. Plus I wanted to be able to tell you about the "new" team we'll have playing to aid me in building new adventures for them.
So any suggestions for making the "world" cool. Or ideas for adventures would rock. I'll be trying to make as many Marvel tie ins as possible. One of my ideas is to use ALOT of the old original Marvel Avenger stories as bases to reimagine the plot in the Victorian age...
The KEY idea for me is that all stories and villains and NPCs stick to the "spirit" of the character in ALL aspects.
Change little things about things like their names, costume, powers,
background, etc... to fit the re-imagining and this new Victorian
world. This is a "what if" style campaign in which the Marvel
Universe characters all started off in 1888 instead of 1960. Inspired by Marvel's 1602 and League of Extraordinary Gentleman as well as Gotham By Gaslight and others...
Here are some notes on the setting and the new Avenger team. Any of your thoughts are greatly appreciated and welcome!
Age of Wonders: The AVENGERS 1888 (MARVEL's Victorian Age Avengers)
PL6 | 90pp
It's the Victorian Age, 1888. The world needs heroes, great heroes. In a setting "re-imagined" from Marvel Comics. Players take the role of any previous "Avenger" from Marvel Comics continuity and "re-imagines" them in a Victorian state of mind. ONLY former Avenger characters are allowed (but many many Marvel heroes have been Avengers!). This would be a continuation of my previously ran Imperials game.

NOTE: I want the campaign to "level out" at PL8, so I've told the players to start at PL6 but we will "advance" the team very quickly. By the end of the first 2-3 adventures they'll be up to PL 8. This is to give them a sense of the "danger" of the Victorian time period (guns, electricity, early tanks, and vast minions) and then quickly allow them to realize they are "AVENGERS.. the mightiest heroes in the land.
THE ROSTER (player characters)
- CAPTAIN AMERICA the player is considering a wild west cowboy version, a fish out of water caucasian boy raised by Native Americans, later conscripted into service with the Civil War and now "on lone" to the British Queen to begin these Avengers.

- VISION combining the idea of the Vision with a steampunk style big boxy artificial intelligence. Sort of mixing the Thing and Vision for more of a brick flavor. The player noted he may have the drawback of not being able to talk and only printing out punch cards to roleplay... Smile

- LIVING LIGHTNING shoehorning the player's grand idea into a great little known West Coast Avenger. His idea is to put all LL's powers into a "lightning rod" he carries around then channelling through that rod to have LL's abilities.

- THE WASP the player is thinking of making Wasp a mystical fey being from the aristocratic courts come to Victorian age London!
