Airships and Spelljammers! Everyone's favorite toys!

Alright, here's the dealio, folks-

I'm introducing Airships to my campaign setting. One of my PC's (a Lich Sorcerer) is interested in designing and constructing Airships of his own, and I'm looking for some input on how to adjudicate this... a few thoughts-

1. The recent Issue of Polyhedron (With the Spelljammer setting) included many interesting Spelljammer/Airship models, but listed no guidelines for designing, constructing, or buying them.

2. An issue of Dragon from a few months ago included some cursory rules for "flying ships", but did not go into detail (and seemed far underprice).

So, are there any rules for constructing airships in 3e- any 3rd party sourcebooks that detail this, or anything you (or anyone else) has created for their home or internet setting? With the popularity of the airship in fantasy fiction (especially the ever-popular Final Fantasy series), I'd think that someone would have the material I'm looking for available.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For 3E? Not that I know of.

However, in an old 2E Forgotten Realms expansion, The Golden South (if I recall correctly), there's a mage-kingdom (great, I forgot the name...) that has flying ships.

And in basic D&D, there were the flying ships from a series of articles in Dragon. I don't know if the Princess Ark (?) is included in any non-Dragon source. If you have the Dragon CD archive, you might try looking it up.

Yes, the Princess Ark (and full rules for Airship design and construction) were featured in the D&D Boxed Set "Heroes of the Princess Ark". I had a copy- however, foolishly, I sold it, and no longer have the information I need. Does anyone know where on the internet I could get some data... or does anyone else have anything to contribute?

Shining south i think it was, and i'm pretty sure it was about Halrua?

Do it like they do in Escaflowne. They have these volcanic rocks that they mine that float when heated. so the ships have 2 huge rocks on eather side, with a boiler in the middle, and a tiller and a propeller in back.

They've got a Halruan Airship in Magic of Faerun
in the Wonderous Items section.

If I remember, it is something in the order of
400,000gp to buy though...
