I have been playing DnD now for about 20 years and feel that the Powers that be(due to changeovers with TSR and WoTC) don't seem to market their product properly and get that crucial "Customer Awareness" bang on target. They tend to rely on their existing Customer Base and just keep pumping out new books or upgraded versions and supplements. I think that it is way too soon to even need a new set of core books, when most DM's and players were already aware of the inherent problems with some of the game mechanics and sorted these problems out with in house rules or DM judgement calls. Personally, I will not be buying any of the new Core Rules books as I feel that WoTC are taking advantage of the existing customers good will and curiosity. However, back the point of the question, it would not surprise me in the least if WoTC decided to release Sword and Fist 3.5, Tome and Blood 3.5 and Savage Species 3.5, etc...But I will say that the support from WoTC for their products with extra game supplements, expansions and other D20 publishers has certainly broadend the Horizons of DnD from it's humble beginings in the 70's. I just think they should leave the Core Rules alone and conentrate and marketing their existing products more efectively. Not sure if I have Hi-jacked this thread(Sorry if I have...DOH !!!) but at least the subject matter is relevent to a certain extent. If anyone disagrees with me or can shed any light on Future WoTC Core Book releases then feel free to comment and critique.<img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f631.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt="" title="Eek!" data-smilie="9"data-shortname="" />
I think that's a Great Question...... I would say that this question is quite valid and would be best answered by WoTC, as it is they who are making us all buy more "Core Rule" Books without much justification, other than a few minor changes, which in theory could have been published in a "Soft Back, Black and White Supplement" making it more economical for all us poor players of the game.
