I miss the alternate classes but I understand they aren't easy to be updated when they have to be updated according to the current critearia of fast and simple combat. Other point is those powers aren't easy to be sold after a first book. We can agree the playtesting would need a lot of time and feedback but lots of players would like to try it and to create their own homemade version to compare. That playtesting is also other way to play D&D Some point I suggest a special new schedule. It could be used like spirit magic, but with the diffence to use magic components (verbal, somatic and material) instead display. Then that crunch could be useful for no-psionic PCs. The martial maneuvers could be the easiest option to be updated after the psionic powers. They work like almost-at-will spells with short range effect. It needs a simple and fast reload, and some spells (and magic items or weapons) that allowed no-martial-adepts to use some martial maneuver during an encounter. Then that crunch could be sold in other sourcebooks. (Maybe the players changed their opinion after an encounter with that hobglobin tribe leader who used those couple of magic axes) The binder and the psionic wilder could merger into a new class. It would be like a binder with psionic powers. The list of psionic powers could change but the power point pool would be the same. This new wilder would be like the superheroes "yokai-host" from Dandadan. The truenamer, scribe and archivist could merger into a new class. Here we could recover a piece of the "dark speech" (from Book of Vile Darkness) and the "words of creation" (book of exalted deeds). It would like truenamer magic but... if the "archivist" uses the "books of prayers" then she could "borrow" other utterances no-known by her. The handicap is the book of prayers is too heavy to be carried with only one hand (and pages could need a change) and if you are reading you can't watch the rest of the combact but a short instants. The book of prayers could be more useful if the archivist has got some ally or minion to be buffed. Do you remember the manganime Zatchbell? The book of prayers could be used by other classes like a magic item with a limited number of loads. The incarnum would need more work even if the new version was simple. The incarnum soulmelds could work like at-will or reloadable powers. (a simple reload action like martial maneuvers). It would work like using chakras (body slots for magic items) and points of essence to "upgrade, augment and unlock metamagic effects". Some magic items could allow to use a soulmeld during an encounter each short rest. It could be interesting for players who want a class like a mutant with monster traits. And the mysteries by the shadowcaster class? They are really a special case because they start become a once-daily power, after three-time-daily and later at-will. My suggestion is to use three different pools for spell slots, apprentice, initiate, master. Then the apprentice mysteries would need a long rest to be reloaded, after a short rest and after they are encounter-powers. My suggestion is mysteries to be used not only by shadowcasters but by elementalist spellcasters, with different paths linked to other elements.
