After being looted and sold off peice meal D&D dies. Monte Cook is found sitting in a sleezy bar with a bunch of Vampire LARPers spending his UI cheque and idlely doodling on an 8 by 10 glossy of Lorine Williams face. As he's putting the finishing touches on the arrow protruding form her forhead trying to get the feathers just right he glances up at the guys in trenchcoats and bondage gear playing rock paper sissors and an idea hits him like a 10d6 lighting bolt no save. He flips the picture over and begins scribbling things like positive AC skill points and feats down on the back of Lorines portrat giggling like a maniac. He drunk dials his long suffering wife and bellows into the phone "HONNY!Ihaveagreatideait'llsellmillionssavethehobbyandmakeusrich!Questions?notimeforthat!Ineedtomorgagethehouserightnow!" After spending the night in the drunk tank Monte sobers up and begins putting his plan in motion. He calls a few of his old buddies from TSR and they put their brains together and 6 months of sleepless nights later with great fanfare Monte Cooks "Arcana Unearthed" is released. Gamers rejoice, the hobby is saved and a 7 foot tall bronze statue of Monte is erected at GenCon. About a year after the release of Arcana Unearthed Monte releaseses an OGL for it. The hobby rebounds and Monte cook moves to a home in the Bahamas with a jewel encrusted caddy as his "fun car".
