Alternity-->D20 Monster Conversion System

A question about the Alternity conversion document given as a web enhancement for the Menace Manual. It makes reference to Hit Dice (the first step of the example states that the Chupacabra is a 2 HD monster) - maybe it's my amazing denseness, but where in hey do Alternity monster write-ups give Hit Dice? I'm looking at the only ones I have (from the old Dark*Matter book), and I'm not seeing anything like that.

Use it's ranks in brawl. There's a confusing formula to it; I think it's

Ranks BAB or DnD skill ranks
0       +0
         +1
1       +2
         +3

 is annoying :(

An El Chupacabra has 1 rank in [i]brawl[/i], so it has BAB +2 or +3. A 2 HD magical beast has BAB +2.

However, less combative creatures might use other skill ranks instead.
