Welcome to the wonderful world of DMing. Your first statement is false. You should be the DM. So you don't know the rules as well as you might? Oh well, you know them better than they do it sounds like. I've been playing D&D 12 years or so, and many here have been playing much longer, but I still made plenty of mistakes during my first campaign or two in both 2e & 3e. It's no big deal. If you make a ruling on the fly, and you find out later it's not the real rule, decide which you like better and keep it. That's how many house rules come about. As a hint for learning the rules, start reading the Rules forum here on EN World. Lots of the threads may not make a bunch of sense at the time, but keep your PHB handy and try and follow along. You'll start to pick up on the concepts in no time, and you'll get some great ideas. As for your players running wizards/sorcerors, I still have this problem with my current batch of players. Only one played 2e and he almost always gets stuck playing the arcane caster if we have one. It's not the end of the world, and after your players get comfortable with the basic rules, toss in a few encounters with arcane spell casters. Probably, at least one of your players will be so mystified by it, that they'll start trying to learn it. (That's how it got me when I first started playing.) Anyway, enjoy the game and make sure your players do well. As barsoomcore said, if you're all having fun, you're doing just fine. Z
