I do this, and I wonder if other DMs do;
Do you endlessly render your notes more and more concise? I sure do. And it's not just my campaign notes - I do this for rules, too.
Instead of a DMG, I just use the Reference Sheets. Instead of a Monster Manual, I use a 1-page chart with average values for important stats at each level (like the DCs for spell-like abilities)
These days, I never touch the books; just the Reference Sheets, my monster chart, and my 20 pages of campaign notes.
