Ammet from Bastion of Broken Souls

As a commanding officer in the Blood War, he has an army at his disposal. Also, now that the Maeljin Lords (demiurge's yugoloths of sin each used as a unique yugoloth) are no more, Ammet now controls the army Wrath assembled to wage war against the eladrins. Since he was once the heart of Ashardalon, he desperately wants to retrieve the Heart of Darkness from Vlaakith (used to create her phylactery unbeknownst to her until much later). Long ago, the baernaloths of the Obsidian Helix stole it and used it to kill thousands of creatures. By purging the chaos and law from those creatures and absorbing it into themselves, the baernaloths of the Obsidian Helix where restored to their former alignments. However, the pure evil contained within the Heart of Darkness also consumed the souls of the good and neutral creatures exposed to it. Absorbed by Ashardalon and Nalphegor, the souls became like a drug to them. Together, they consumed them in a great rampage that destroyed many planes before Kethevar banished Nalphegor and Vanymor destroyed Ashardalon. However, the Obsidian Helix eventually resurrected Ashardalon and bound Ammet to him as his heart restoring the dragon and infusing him with great fiendish power. Over the next century, Ashardalon craved the power he got from the Heart of Darkness. Recently, in the adventure Bastion of Broken Souls, he discovered a Node where soul stuff coalesces from the Positive Energy Plane to nurture the crystal trees that grow unborn souls. In that adventure, a party defeated Ashardalon whereupon Ammet emerged from his chest and returned to the Abyss. Now, Ammet moves to take the Heart of Darkness. While the party is busy with the Master Arcanaloth (see demon, devil, and yugoloth thread), he sends half of his army to attack Tu’Narath as a diversion while his mysterious benefactor retrieves sends assassins to retrieve the Heart of Darkness. Meanwhile, Ammet sends the other half of his army to retrieve the Spawning Stone. If seriously threatened, the Master Arcanaloth reveals this information in exchange for his life. Otherwise he offers the party the opportunity to surrender.</p><p></p><p>Tactics: Unholy aura, quickened telekinesis (repeat), power word stun, and melee.</p><p> </p><p>Ammet, Half-Red Dragon Balor: CR 22; Large outsider (chaotic, dragon, extraplanar, evil); HD 20d10+220; hp 330; Init +11; Spd 40 ft., fly 90 ft.
