Amulet of the Planes

First Post
Ok...my character has an Amulet of the Planes and a 20 int. So my int bonus is +5.

In order to get the Amulet of the Planes to take me to the exact plane and location on that plane which I want to travel too...I have to roll a DC:15 int check.

So long as I am not hurried...can I just take a 10 on this int check, and thereby scoot my entire group around wherever we want to go? Basically a really cheap extraplanar teleport without error able to move 8 people at once?

If it matters, we are playing 3.0...my Knowledge: Planes is 10 (5 ranks, 5 for int).

Hmm...I can see your point. I guess I just didn't consider normal, unhurried use of the Amulet to be a condition that counts as Threatened or Distracted...

It is stressful, you can use take 10 in other stressful situations...the example in the book is an unhurried climb check, and I would think that a precarious perch while climbing would be pretty stressful too.

I'd say no, your DM might say yes. It is entirely up to him to decide when you can take 10 or not.

But as the item description says it is difficult to master, I suppose it is. If you're allowed to take 10 anyone with an int +3 and a Fox's Cunning would master it.

But I'd give you a +2 synergy bonus for your 5 ranks in Knowledge: The Planes.
Get a Fox's Cunning spell and you'll probably reach +9, which is good enough.
