This thing is based on a creature I heard about on the Coast to Coast AM radio show. A doctor called in telling about his sighting of this creature, going about the beds of the sick, breathing in their faces... -=-=-=-=- Pestilant [I]Nearby a soldier lies upon the battlefield, his body afflicted with innumberable bruises, gouges and lacerations. There is often a horrible explanation... A pestilant is formed out of a collection of tiny, withered souls who die not strictly from their maladies, but from the uncaring and weary attitude to whether they live or die. Many healers tell of this creature which visits upon those under their care, stealing from them the will to continue fighting for their survival. Combat: Pestilants do not, strictly speaking, fight, but convince their victims to surrender. Drawing the Spark (Su): Planting a compulsion into its victims mind, intelligent, thinking creatures at 0 or less hit points, stricken with a disease, or Sickened, can be convinced to give up the fight for survival unless making a successful DC 18 Will save. If they fail they die, and the last spark of life joins with the collection of others, raising the Pestilant's hit points by 10 per victim. Ressurection cannot bring the victim back to life. Only by True Ressurection, Wish, Reality Revision or similiar high-powered affect can the soul be freed. Manifestation (Su): Like a ghost, a Pestilant dwells on the Ethereal Plane and, as an ethereal creature, it cannot affect or be affected by anything in the material world. When the pestilant manifests, it partly enters the Material Plane and becomes visible but incorporeal on the Material Plane. A manifested pestilant can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, magic weapons, or spells, with a 50% chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source. A manifested pestilant can pass through solid objects at will, and its own attacks pass through armor. A manifested pestilant always moves silently. A pestilant can strike with its touch attack. A manifested pestilant remains partially on the Ethereal Plane, where is it not incorporeal (though still retains its swarm subtype). A manifested pestilant can be attacked by opponents on either the Material Plane or the Ethereal Plane. The pestilant's incorporeality helps protect it from foes on the Material Plane, but not from foes on the Ethereal Plane. A pestilant has two home planes, the Material Plane and the Ethereal Plane. It is not considered extraplanar when on either of these planes. Pestilant Touch (Su): Though usually ignoring those who are healthy, if pressed a pestilant will make an attempt to charge at its opponent and through it, making a touch attack. If successful the victim must make a DC 19 Fortitude save or become Nauseated for 1d6 minutes and for a week takes a -4 penalty to all saves to fight off disease. A pestilant will ignore its sickened victim unless attacked again after the affect has worn off. Turn Resistance (Ex): A pestilant has a +10 turn resistance as it is not one soul, but a combination of many.
