So, first off, if you love to read (which I'm sure you do, I mean you are on a forum), here my character's background so far btw, the term soulbroker is a homebrew race of devils that make pacts with pretty much anything with a soul to get said soul. The humans they make a pact with are allowed to live basically until the Soulbroker decides to either use the soul for their own benefit, or hell itself has consumed it At the time of creation, Surzal, a lowly imp, was created. For eons, she went from hermit to another, tempting each into taking their lives in the name of hell.Eventually after a time she was bound to a wizard, famous for his deeds.. One day she spotted a monk in town, grinning she mentioned it to the wizard. "You couldn't possibly achieve that, now could you? His soul is too pure, too resilient." Was his stubborn reply. Sensing an opportunity, Surzal placed a bet. If she could tempt the monk into sin, the wizard himself would stroll into hell and offer his soul up as well. If not, Surzal herself would take her life. And thus Surzal waiting outside the holy ground, in disguise as a stray old cat. Eventually the monk took her home, pitying the poor homeless animal. For a week, every day, the imp caused turmoil and chaos in the monks head, until he could no longer take it, and ran screaming into the nearby whorehouse, his heart singing for temptation. When Lilith, one of the archdukes of hell, heard of this double cross, Surzal was quickly promoted into a Soulbroker, and climbed up the ladder, to become one of the best of them all. Yet, somehow the monk had become himself a lowly lemure, and sought revenge against Surzal, blaming her for his demise. Discovering that the Soulbroker was preparing a portal to the material plane, the weak devil stealthily ruined the portal, in an attempt to rip apart the very essence of Surzal. However my DM needs me to find a certain time where such a relationship could be established, and I'm having a hard time doing so. Any suggestions?
