So last session me and my party (of which I am a level 5 wizard/5 frost mage with the teleport spell) are at this icy castle inhabited by this sorceror who is keeping some people prisoner. We had scouted the passages of the castle using various techniqes (a rogue scouting, arcane eye spell), and planned on using a teleport spell to appear in the castle somewhere and hopefully surprise the sorceror. We had pretty thoroughly scouted the tunnels of the castle (it was a relatively small, one level/one page affair), and we knew its layout, but weren't sure where the sorceror was. At this point, the DM let us look at the map of the castle, since we scouted it thoroughly and it din't have any secret doors or such. The map had the room numbers on it but otherwise didn't give away much else. We agreed that the room numbered '10A' looked like the best place to teleport to. Then I said, out of character, 'Do we really want to teleport to a room with a number like 10A?' Might that be more dangerous than a room with a number like '9'? After a few chuckles, we reasoned that actually 10A would be a good number to teleport to, since it most likely be some sort of treasure room. It might contain a trap, but unlikely a powerful monster. Well, anyway, the contents of the room weren't quite what we predicted, and a massive battle ensued that claimed the lives of one of our party members. But I stand by the reasoning. If you teleport into a fortress, a room with letter at the end of its number ought to be safe.
