Yes, which is supposedly geographically based--west from the Germanic languages east to the Indic languages.

Err.. the other way around, I suppose. Either way, it curiously seems to ignore the Celtic and Romance languages that are further West of the Germanic languages in Europe. Even if you just look at it as the homes of the various sub-groups, the Celtic languages seem to have originated further west (or at least as far west, depending on exactly where you prefer to place Proto-Germanic geographically).

One of the things that linked the Indo-Europeans/Aryans as a group to the white supremacist metanarrative is that the best textual evidence that exists of an Aryan invasion is the Vedas which essentially explain that the whiter your skin, the more times you have been reincarnated. (Gradually, Hindu ideas of purity were converted from literal to metaphoric as India's new Aryan overlords used their power and privilege to have intercourse with a lot of their brown-skinned subjects.)

That's why, in the 1930s, India had one of the strongest pro-Nazi movements in the world. After all, they were the culture that, even if they had mixed more with the darker races, had best preserved the original Aryan cultural heritage. And why BJP, the party that governed India from the mid-90s until last year was turned down by the Indian electoral commission in their request to make the swastika their party logo -- not because it was offensive but because it was such a universally accepted symbol that using it was making a direct claim on the country's national identity.

Really? That is interesting. That kinda explains why the use of Aryan in the old Indo-European context seems to be more prevalent by Indian (and Pakistani) researchers, though, when it's been pretty much abandoned by most Western scholars.
