As a child, his "destiny of greatness" didn't hold any specifics, but when this was pointed out to him, he was undeterred. </p><p></p><p>By the time he came of age, Varn was cursing his fate. Born into House Janno meant any of his plans for greatness were snuffed out before he was even capable of walking, a harsh fact that he now realized. Fortunately, Varn was able to steer his determination onto a healthy road and he worked his way through medical school. </p><p></p><p>Varn displayed a keen intellect and was a very quick learner. He excelled in all his classes and completed his educated with exceptionally high marks. So high in fact, that an unexpected opportunity fell into his lap. He was invited to take a position as a doctor on Babylon 5. Leaping at the chance to expand his knowledge, Varn took the position.</p><p></p><p>Once Varn started working at Babylon 5, he realized something interesting. Here on the station, his birthright was less important. His destiny of greatness was reborn. Varn immersed himself in the study of medicine and extended himself into the field of psychology. His interest in alien life, still not sated, led him to learn about different religions. He found his knowledge of what made his patients "tick," mentally, spiritually, and physiologically gave him an edge other doctors did not possess. </p><p></p><p>These days, Varn works and lives in Red Sector. He asked to be transferred there once he felt he had enough clout to ask for the transfer. Varn is proud of his success, and very vocal about it. He recently purchased a recorder so he could have video history of his more "interesting" cases and claims to be putting together an autobiography, tentatively titled <em>From House to Home: The Story of Doctor Varn Janno</em>. </p><p></p><p>Varn spends much of his lesiure time in the Casino and the Dark Star. He finds these venues to be the best way for him to "celebrate" his successes. Varn has also spotted Ambassador Mollari at both places a few times, and is starting to develop a sort of "hero worship from afar" relationship with him. To Varn, the Ambassador represents the ideal level of respect and recognition that Varn yearns to acheive. He has never spoken with the Ambassador, but has spent some time observing him at the Casino or the Dark Star at least a few times. </p><p></p><p><strong>Personality:</strong> Varn is arrogant, vain, and loud. Unfortunately, he tends to be right and has reason to be proud of himself, which only fuels these qualities. He has an unusual bedside manner, often joking with his patients and, even more often, brutally honest. With his knowledge of pyschology, Varn tends to wiegh how far he can takes jokes with one patient to the next and adjusts accordingly...unless he doesn't care for the patient. Varn is not one to keep opinions to himself and has only begrudgingly learned how to treat Narns, literally referring to his education on Narn medicine as "vetinary studies."</p></blockquote><p></p>
