Angardt Barbarian location? [FR]

GwydapLlew

First Post
I was doing some research for a FR adventure, and came across a few notations regarding the Angardt Barbarians. They existed during the time of the Netherese Empire, and from what I can tell they were located in Southeast Neth around Moander's Footstep. I do not have any reliable maps of that time, but I've extrapolated that Moander's Footstep is in the mountains west of the Dalelands. Does anyone out there have more specific information about them?

Never heard of them, but they obviously are related to the Uthgardt barbs from nowadys in the realms.

Interesting...

I thought the same, based purely on the linguistic similarities, but the Angardt (and another, similarly-named tribe) seem to have been based in the southeastern reaches of Netheril, far closes to Dekanter and the Dalelands, than the Far North (where the Uthgardt roam).

I would assume that they are all connected from the same ur-tribe (similar to the Celtic tribes of Europe), but I'm trying to find canonical information on them.

I'm going to drop a line over at Candlekeep as well, methinks. =)

I don't think so, The Uthgardt are decended from the barbarian tribes brought from Ruathym by Uthgar merged with Netherese survivors brought west by The Bey of Runlatha. (All of this from Lost Empires of Faerun).

You might try asking on Candlekeep

You are correct. Uthgar came from Rauthym and was driven from Netherese Illusk. It's then that he linked up with the Netherese barbarian tribes and then moved north. I didn't have all my texts in front of me. I could see intermingling - specifically, the fact that southern Uthgardt tend towards darker coloration is a sign of Netherese descent (Races of Faerun) - but it still doesn't quite solve the conundrum of where the Angardt originally settled.

It looks like their descendents live in the Ride now, which is north of the Moonsea. It's farther north than I was originally thinking, but it fits the approximate description. *hrmm*

Edit: The Angardt and Rengarth modern-day locations are switched around in Lost Empires of Faerun.
