She hadn't meant to find it...she was working her shift in the campus library, reshelving a few old books that the history professor had left out from the archives. The library had just recieved a shipment of rare and unique books for classification and verification, and she was naturally drawn to the strange art and design of the Grimoire. Working late, as she was, there was no one else around to hear her startled scream when the manacle whipped around and latched tightly around her left wrist. Nor to hear the book speaking to her, explaining, entreating, and finally laying down the line. It was attached to her for keeps. Until she learned enough magic to escape it, or make it let go. Despite the Grimoire's heckling, Thessaly turned out to be quite a good student, and possessed a natural talent for the mystic art that was reflected by her immense reserves of arcane power. Although she's only mastered basic spells, even those powers helped her recognize a magical artifact being sold at an antique shop...a strange amulet shaped like a stylized eye. With the aid of some spells, and the Grand Grimoire's memory of magical trivia, Thessally worked out that it was a warding amulet called Asteron's Eye...a potent physical and spiritual barrier against harm. Girded by the Eye, Thessaly has become more willing to take risks in her studies; a development greeted by the Grimoire with mixed pleasure and caution.
