Animate(d) Object Questions

Couple of questions regarding animated objects:

1. Assuming the object is made of hard material (stone or metal);
I would also assume that the object is resistant to attacks as
the material. Hardness aside, would stone be more resistant to
fire (than, say, a wooden table) for example? How would this
be adjudicated (fire resist 20?)?

2. For animated objects which use the constrict ability, do they
need to follow all of the grapple rules (with an AOO? then hold,
then pin/constrict?). Would the opponent be pinned while
constricted?

Thanks for the input.

1. Most objects take half damage from fire, acid, and electricity, and one quarter damage from cold - before you apply hardness. You could rule that wooden objects do not apply hardness to fire damage, and take full damage from fire. You could also rule that metal objects are immune to electricity.

2. You use the same rules that a creature with Improved Grab does, so there's no AoO. You must make a normal slam attack, and, if successful, immediately force (as a free action) a grapple check. There's no AoO for this. If the construct has multiple attacks, it can attempt multiple grapples. You grapple your opponent (who keeps his Dex bonus and can fight back); it takes another check to pin them (the victim is now helpless).
