Another Polyhedron question

Scaramanga

First Post
At the risk of beginning another salvo of possibly deserved shots at Paizo, I have a question concerning Polyhedron.

Why do they even call it Polyhedron? Why not just include that material (mini-game, RPG news, et cetera) in the back of Dungeon and call it good? What benefit comes of calling the additional material in the back of Dungeon by a different name? In effect, isn't Polyhedron just a name for the appendix in back of Dungeon?

I suspect out of a sense of homage. Living Greyhawk Journal was being folded into Dragon, and Erik probably wanted to maintain a sense of liniege with the magazine that wasn't afraid to print stuff for different systems and different games.

Now, many may disagree, but I think that's waht poly does still.

Polyhedron started off as a RPGA club newsletter turned newszine. So the name have been well established. And WotC wanted to put out a d20 support magazine of their own. So in 2002 they changed Poly's format and make it a commercial magazine.
