How about a sorcerer 6-->Shadow adept 10-->Archmage 4. There are a number of reasons to do this, not the least of which a shadow sorcerer is just cool. It allows you to boost the DC's of 3 schools pretty darn high so you can really fall back on those versatile save or nothing spells especially the shadow conjuraton and evocation spells. You'll have a more interesting looking spell selection that the typical sorcerer just because of your particular strengths. Plus as you move into epic levels the shadow adept PrC being a 10 level one you can extend it and continue to gain regular boost to your DC's for necromancy, enchantment, and illusion (as well as your saves against those schools). For both PrC's the feat investment is *Shadow weave magic (which nets you another +1 DC to the above mentioned schools) *any metamagic (but hey you'll want that anyway) *Skill focus: spellcraft (this is really your only "wasted" feat, but hey you get a freebie bonus metamagic from shadow adept so no biggie) *Spell focus in any two schools (hey if you choose necromancy, illusion, or enchantment this is just working toward those higher DC's, I personally would recommend illusion and enchantment) If your human that still give you four feats to play around with, and your save DC for say illusion should be around 22+spell level+chr mod. Feats I would recommend: heighten silent and still (these are just really useful) quicken (to set up for some of the epic level feats).
