Recently I've been trying to find good Gargantuan and Colossal bases for my McFarlane Dragons and my Nightmares of HP Lovecraft Dagon figure. I don't like the idea of basing them on a CD(leaves squares free) and I'm likewise not wild about using big bulky wooden bases. In the course of my search, I found a company that can custom-cut black plastic bases at an identical thickness to the D&D Minis plastic bases: http://www.interstateplastics.com/materials/detail.aspx?ID=ABSsheetGP-SB1012 It's dirt cheap, too -- 10 Gargantuan bases or 6 Colossal for $7, and I think there are some economics of scale that start kicking in, too, so it's likely to get cheaper the more people are in on it. However, there's a problem -- if you order less than $50, there's a $15 Small Order charge. I'd like to avoid that, since that turns an order of a few Gargantuan and Colossal bases into $40-50 once shipping is included, and the prospect of paying almost fifty bucks just for bases does -not- appeal. However, with a few more people, we could avoid that Small Order charge and get some nice plastic bases for a reasonable cost. I've drummed up some interest at www.hordelings.com (you can find the thread here: http://hordelings.com/frontend/forums/postView.php?post_id=51920 ) and we may do a big group order in the next few weeks. Are you interested in acquiring Gargantuan and Colossal plastic bases?
