Ive written out some notes on the trollmountains in the FR.
Ill be using this version of the trollmountains in my campaign, but id love some additional comments/suggestions for this region.
here my notes:
Troll mountains
The trollmountails is a high mountain ridge north of Baldurs gate.
To the south of the TM are large foothills called the trollhills divided from Baldurs gate by miles of grasslands through wich the winding river flows its poisoned waters. North of the trollmountains lie the famous trollbark forests.
<currently there are some troubles in the trollbark forest and forces press south into the trollmountains>
Within the TM are several well known locations.
The warlocks tower.
On the nothern slopes of the western TM, one off Fearuns known dungeons stands. This tower is features in many a bards tale so i wont tel more about it. It suffices to say its smart not to venture near there.
< Im planning NOT to use this in my campaign.>
The Cliffs of the trolls teeth.
The western edge of the TM are situated on the coast of the sword sea. It ends in towering cliffs and tooth like ridges far into the ocean, making it a hazardous passage for ships. Smugglers have been known to use the treaturous waters to elude pursuit. Not much is known about the coast at this point.
Keldrivver.
A small town build indressed stone, with strong stone walls and paved sloped roads. The architecture of Keldrivver is completely used to effectively defend it against trolls with the liberal use of fire, as the whole town is fireproofed.
Less known are the following locations.
The twin-peaks wizard.
Odo is an old and very unfocused wizard. He lives on the most eastern peaks of the TM in a small cottage. Very knowledgable of the comes and goings in the TM, his house is a good startup point for expeditions into the TM. It might take awile to learn just what you wanted to know about the TM as he is hard to talk with but the trouble usually pays off.
The pass of the SnakeEye clan.
This is the home of the most eastern Trollclan. named after a strange mutation of the local trolls (they have yellow slitted eyes) these trolls are led by the immensely overgrown HUbSlok. This obese and very gluttenous troll is displayed unusual magical talent for a troll. He never stirs from his thrown where he is attended by a group of (for trolls) attractive females. Most of the day he eats, drinks or

s. Only stopping to pass the occasional judgment or to lash out in unexplained anger. HubSlok heas ruled the clan for several decads now and doesn't seem plan of stopping in the near future.
As the pass is only nominaly connected to the northern Trollbark forest, the tribe has not shared in the recent troubles befalling trolls there.
<for Hubslok Im using a modified fatty from scarred lands>
The Valley of the Horned clan.
A large valley in the center of the TM is the home of the Horned clan. A clan of trolls and minotaurs. This tribe is best connected to the Trollbarkforest of all three troll tribes in the TM but several natural defensive positions in the northern passes (there are two northern passes from the valley) has enabled the horned ones to hold out to the forces attacking from the north. As the wise man of the horned tribe feel they cant hold on for ever several raiding parties are send south into the trollhills to find and secure a new place to live. The goblin tribes in the trollhills (all 6) are very scarred of the big monsters and have started to move south. the first group of goblins has recently crossedthe winding river but a unit of baldurs gate home guard destroyed this group. for the goblins its only the question what will be more dangerous, huge trolls and Minotaurs, or magically supported cavalry.
The pass of the Lion clan.
This is a small valley high on a pass in the TM, in this valley stange trolls live. These trolls live in concert with the huge direlions that live in the area. dressed in lion hide armour wielding claw like weapons and there heads covered in huge manes of lion hair the trolls look like crosses between lion and troll and when they charge together with their huge pets they look very scary indeed.
The dwarven mine
An old abandoned mining complex. Relatively small (only about 20 levels
)used to be a iron mine. Kobolds a large tribe (the largest group in the MM) have been living there for about 15 years now, and are completely dug in: traps, magical and mundane, closed off passages and new tunnels, new mineshafts. (Ill be mapping this location as a dungeon, as this is the destination of the party at the moment. two party members(both dwarfs) are looking for clues to find the remains of their ancestor the dwarven hero: Flatz the Eggman).
< the original Flatz was a PC several campaigns back and is a perfect example of the god like status old pc can get
>
All feedback is welcome but try not to burn me on my English as these are my private notes , and Im not a native english speaker.
