Yes.

If so are you using the magic variant skill system?

Nope.

If so can you please tell me about it?
There is a new skill Spellcasting. It is used to make skill checks against a set DC based on the level of the spell (the DC is also different for Arcane & Divine spells).

If the spellcasting skill check succeeds the spell is cast, if not the spell fails. If the spell fails material components etc are still expended. There is no penalty for spell failure, although an optional fatigue rule is sidebarred.

If the character successfully casts more spells than his listed spells per day (per the PHB) his spellcasting DC increases with each sucessful spell.

Well, that stinks. I thought it would be a little more in depth than that. Anyway, how much material do you use from the book Krieg? Was you say the book is worth the money spent?

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't really need to go much farther in depth, the rules are functional as is. There is also a short section on the various magic using classes and their itneraction with the ruels. You just have to determine how the changes would affect your campaign.

I've used almost nothing from it. For whatever reason the book just didn't do it for me. None of the options really stood out in my mind.

However, there have been threads by posters who found it far more useful than I have, so you might want to poke around and see if you can find them.
