I thought it was a rocket taking off (I used to live in Florida, about 30 miles from the cape) and would see them all the time, so I know what they look like. Basically, a bright object with something of a tail, starts on the horizon, then goes to just about the zenith of the sky, and slowly fades away as it gets farther than farther.This looked exactly like a rocket. Except I now live in St. Louis.  I tried to look for any rocket or missile launches, but couldn't find any mention of any.  Plus, they generally shoot them to the east from Florida, over the ocean (plus they get the benefit of the spin of the earth)</blockquote>
