Anyone ever try this? A game where the 'players' are sucked into a fantasy realm and into the 'bodies' of their PCs? Think Joel Rosenberg's Guardians of the Flame series. I've wanted to do it for a while but Jumanji finally pushed me to get serious about it. I've been dying to try something new and different and I am going to give this a chance. If you've tried this, I'd like to hear from you: What worked? What didn't work? How long did it last?, etc. For any interested, I'm having the players roll up two PCs: 1) Their "Fantasy" PC- the one they would like to play. 2) Their "Real World" selves: I had each go here: http://www.kevinhaw.com/add_quiz.php And then send me the stats. I assigned them their own 'Real World' class. I picked that sight just so that everyone would take the same quiz and there was nothing personal with the assignment of ability scores. The players will begin their adventure. Should any PC die, they will revert to the Real World character in the Fantasy Realm until they kind find a way to magically "re-enter" their PC. Or, they can choose to play as themselves and level up that way. (for instance, we have a former Army Airborne in our group. I made his Real World class a Fighter). Otherwise, its a standard quest adventure. But the goal is to escape the fantasy world
