* thread ressurection * Well, due to a snafu I had to cancel my order, then recently renewed it and got this book in the mail today at work. Just pulling it out gives you a big grin, 320 pages of stuff packed into a nice, thick hardcover. Yummy. First d20 book covering this sort of thing was Relics by AEG as Psion mentioned above. That book covered nearly 120 items while this book covers 50. BUT, Tome of Relics does indeed devote more space to the items allowing for more detail and extras. And of course it contains the heralded charts to make your own artifacts, enough combos to make about 50 zillion or so. I only had a chance to look it over at lunch, but I liked the layout and art quite a bit. The intros were good, and I randomly flipped to "The Ashen Heart of Barrat Sun", the possible heart of the original vampire. Great naming conventions and good writing were evident. I remember one of the uses I got out of Relics right away was using the stories without actually introducing the item in question. This book has that element in spades by the looks of it. And, honestly while the Heart artifact I read is powerful, it certainly isn't game-breaking or anything. Has anyone been using this book in their games? How's it working out? Kudos to Ari for the assembling. I think this will keep me in my hammock for hours! -DM Jeff
