Anyone have any ideas

So I'm running a campaign called Adventures in Sigil where a paladin and rogue are essentially trying to help fix all of the problems in the city as they pop up. They have dealt with child soldiers drugs and organized crime to a corrupted hydra that infected the water supply and magically created asexually reproducing lizard zombies out of anyone who drank the water. All of these things were put in place by the corrupt government in order to further scientific process in the city to help fight off an incoming threat. I have 2 questions.
1. Anyone have any ideas for any more weird things they could face in the city.
2. Anyone have an idea for the threat that is currently coming. ( Remember sigil is out in the farlands by 5e lore I believe)

Watch Dr. Who episodes, they have a lot of weird problem going on that you could convert to magic instead of fantasy science.

Have they dealt with the Coup yet? Since a Rogue corrupted Angel has now been take over By Grazz't the Demon prince and he is using the Angel to subvert the City from within using a secret cult that worships the angel and will soon open the way for invasion from the inside?
And who are the Demons Allies?
The Githyanki and Sladd mercenaries of course that will be given their own portions of the city as reward and a crap ton of slaves. :)

China Mielville's book Perdidio Street Station is another excellent source of inspiration for generally weird stuff in an urban environment.

Mutant turtles living in the sewers?

Undead spirit lord possessing the high mage and raising an army of gith?

Ancient general who has escaped imprisonment in the astral plane seeking revenge on the city that once was responsible for his imprisonment?

An uprising of golems claiming to be sentient and demanding they no longer be enslaved?

Do you have a copy of In the Cage: A Guide to Sigil? This was a 2nd edition accessory, and would provide a ton of flavor and story hooks for a modern Sigil campaign. You could pick up a PDF copy from DrivethruRPG. It's mostly rules-agnostic; very little of the content is specific to 2e.

Another good source for NPCs, story hooks and terrific art is Uncaged: Faces of Sigil. This is heavier on the 2e content (it has stat blocks for each of the featured NPCs), but 70% of the material is still immediately usable in a 5e game. I highly recommend both books if you don't already have them.
