I discovered one guy when he left his AD&D hardback in plain sight on his desk at work. One day as I arrived at work, two guys were walking ahead of me, talking rather loudly so I overheard their conversation. (really) One was recounting a recent dungeon expedition, complete with references to D&D monsters, AC, hit points, the whole nine yards. The guys at work who stand around talking about their 50th level paladin in Diablo, and mention offhand that they used to play D&D in college... The guy who wears his SCA weapons and armor to work on halloween? Yeah we have one of those at work too. I haven't talked to him but it sure makes you wonder. What can I say, I work at Intel: it's full of geeks, and I'd guess 75% of the employes have at least tried gaming at some point. I found another guy by checking out his bookshelves at home. He had an AD&D hardback and an old D&D boxed set tucked away in a dusty corner. I always check out people's bookshelves. Another great way to flush them out is to leave YOUR books around in plain sight. Or wear an old TSR T-shirt with a huge demon picture on it. If they're a gamer, they'll probably ask you about it, which makes it easy. If you suspect a guy, talk to his wife. If she doesn't let something slip within a minute or two, ask what he does, what his hobbies are. Wives are notoriously frank about gamer husbands, even if their husbands are reluctant to admit it. Heck, my wife actually goes out of her way to ask other wives if their husbands are gamers, for reasons I haven't entirely figured out.
