Within providence the bus system is pretty good though.2) Don't get involved in politics. Providence has one of the most corrupt governments in the country.Fun things to do:Waterfire, a monthly(?) event on the Providence river downtown, with live music, gondolas, art shows, snack booths, etc.  Happens late at night, and a lot of people come.If you like eccentric, arty films and performances, then RISD and Brown U. put on a *lot* of shows.  Providence has very good theater in general, Trinity Rep and Leeds are the most professional but there is a ton of amateur/student stuff of high quality.  For really fringe stuff, go to AS220 downtown if it's still there.Wes' is indeed the best BBQ I've ever had, another vote for it from me.  The best SE asian food I've ever had is at Apsara's, also in Providence (or near the border). Cheap, good, and huge variety of dishes.Downtown is still kind of lifeless a lot of the time, but a good size to walk around in.  The new mall is very nice, and there's a skating rink on Kennedy Plaza open in the winter.  The Gamekeeper is also downtown, a good RPG/board game store in the Arcade.That's the kind of stuff I like to do there.
