Anyone with a handy MM2 or FF

Falconnan

First Post
My brother has my MM2 and FF, and I am trying to design the stronghold for my party. One of our members is a kyton (chain devil). Anyway, he wants a torture chamber/prison, and wants to use chain golems as guards.
What I need to know are the market price, base hit dice, and advancement.

BTW, has anyone figured out just how to price constructs? I know they usually just list a price, but let's say you started from scratch. How would you do it?

Thank ye in advance

There isn't any listing of such a monster in the MM2 or FF, nor on WotC's website.

No idea.

Base HD: 7

Advancement: 8-10 Medium, 11-21 Large

Market Price: None given (I says that only kytons can build them. I guess they didn't expect anyone playing a kyton. :) )

There was a formula for golem market price, but I don't know if it's still working in 3.5.

Flesh: 50 000, 9 HD = 5000 + 5000 per HD
Clay: 60 000, 11 HD = 5000 + 5000 per HD
Stone: 80 000, 14 HD = 10 000 + 5000 per HD
Iron: 100 000, 18 HD = 10 000 + 5000 per HD

By this formula, the chain golem would cost 45 000 gp (base 10 000 'cause it's a powerful -- and exotic -- one, +35 000 for its 7 HD).

It definitely does not seem to work in 3.5. The market price appears to be driven by CR, but I cannot reverse engineer a formula that calculates market price based on either CR or HD. Here are the 3.5 golem data (including MMII and FF ):

Flesh: 7 CR, 9 HD, 20,000 gp
Clay: 10 CR, 11 HD, 40,000 gp
Brass: 10 CR, 16 HD, 90,000 gp
Stone: 11 CR, 14 HD, 90,000 gp
Iron: 13 CR, 18 HD, 150,000 gp
Dragonflesh: 13 CR, 30 HD, 175,000 gp
Stone, Greater: 16 CR, 42 HD, 196,000 gp
Hellfire: 17 CR, 20 HD, 198,000 gp
Demonflesh: 18 CR, 24 HD, 200,000 gp
