Apocalypse Now: Original or Redux?

I'm probably the only person here who has yet to see Apocalypse Now in its entirety.

I'm planning to see it on DVD soon, but which version should I watch: the original or the Redux version (I only have time to watch one of them)... and why?

Nope, I haven't watched it at all. I've maybe seen a few seconds when passing by it on TV, but I've never even attempted to sit and watch it.

My recommendation would be to see Redux, just so you can see the movie as Coppola intended. However, if you are pressed for time, the original is still an exellent film.

There are scenes in Redux that don't add much, but then there is a sequence on a French plantation that I thought made up for the rest.

To be fair, if you really *are* pressed for time---neither film is approriate.

Get a comfortable chair, cancel your upcoming appointments and see the redux version.

I have AN:Redux. I would say if you're going to watch a movie, watch the whole thing. It's long and has some scenes that don't really need to be seen to follow the story, but it's still very much worth seeing.
